Questions
Website questions, answered plainly
The things small business owners ask before they hire anyone. The answer comes first.
How much does a website cost for a small business?
At Finale Websites a new site is one flat $1,110, paid in two equal halves, followed by an optional monthly plan from $140 a month. Prices elsewhere vary widely, from a few hundred dollars to several thousand, depending on what is included, so ask what the monthly cost is and who owns the site.
Do I need a website for my business?
If customers look businesses up on their phones before calling, yes. A website lets them confirm you exist, see what you do, and find your hours and number. Even a simple site is often the first thing a customer sees.
Why is my website not showing up on Google?
Common reasons are that the site is new and not yet indexed, that it has no clear title and description for each page, that it is slow or hard to use on a phone, or that it does not say clearly what you do and where. Google Search Console, which is free, shows what Google sees. We can look at your site in a demo.
My website looks outdated. Do I need a new one?
If it looks dated, is hard to use on a phone, or does not make it easy to contact you, a redesign usually pays for itself in the customers it stops losing. If it only needs a few changes, a good designer will tell you so.
Is my website mobile friendly?
Open it on your phone. If you must pinch to read it, tap tiny links, or scroll sideways, it is not. Most local customers use a phone, so this is the first thing to fix.
Wix, WordPress or a custom website: which is best?
Builders like Wix are cheap to start and you do the work. WordPress is flexible but needs steady updates. A custom site built for you costs more up front and nothing in your time. The right choice depends on whether you want to do the work yourself.
How often should I update my website?
Check it often and change it when your business changes: hours, prices, services, photos, contact details. Behind the scenes it also needs regular checks for speed and security, which is what a maintenance plan covers.
Who can update my WordPress site?
Whoever built it, a freelancer, or a maintenance service. The question to ask is who is responsible when something breaks and how fast they answer. Our monthly plans answer that for the sites we build.
My website got hacked. What do I do?
Change your passwords, tell your host, and do not pay anyone who contacts you out of the blue. Restoring a site from a clean backup is the usual fix. We do not offer emergency repair of sites we did not build; for our own clients, security checks are part of the monthly plan.
How do I get more calls from my website?
Put your phone number at the top of every page so it dials in one tap, say clearly what you do and where, and show real reviews and photos. Remove anything that gets in the way of calling.
Do I pay before I see anything?
No. We make a demo of your new site first and show it to you. You decide after you have seen it.
How is the build paid?
One flat price of $1,110, paid in two equal halves.
What is the monthly plan for?
Keeping the site healthy after launch: checks that it is up and fast, updates, and a set number of changes each month, depending on the plan.
Do I keep my website if I stop?
Yes. Monthly plans end with 30 days' written notice, and you keep the site.
Will I be charged for extra work without asking?
No. Anything beyond your plan is quoted first and only done if you agree in writing.
Who do I talk to?
A person. Use the chat in your dashboard once you are a client, or the contact form before that.
